Senior Android Engineer

About the role

Hireup, a provider of disability and aged care support, is hiring a Senior Android Engineer on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is hybrid, based in either Wynyard (Sydney) or Richmond (Melbourne), with two office days per week. You will shape a highly accessible, native mobile experience for Hireup's platform that connects people with disability and elderly Australians with trusted support workers, using an AI-first approach to improve features and engineering efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Own the development and delivery of key features end-to-end, from ideation to post-launch monitoring, working with cross-functional teams
• Integrate AI capabilities into the mobile app and use AI tools such as Cursor, Claude and GitHub Copilot in daily workflows
• Design and build scalable applications with a Kotlin-first, Jetpack Compose stack, Compose Navigation, and MVVM and Clean Architecture
• Drive quality through unit, UI, Compose and integration testing, and performance, concurrency and memory optimisation
• Automate delivery with CI/CD pipelines, feature flags and A/B testing

Required profile

• 4+ years building and shipping complex, high-scale Android applications
• Experience leading features end-to-end, from architecture through to phased rollouts and post-launch support
• Active use of AI engineering tools in daily coding
• Understanding of A/B testing, feature flags and experimentation
• Proven experience with unit, UI and Compose testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Resilient, action-oriented problem solver who works well with cross-functional teams
