Senior Accountant – Remote

About the role

Our client is a growing Australian public practice firm offering accounting, taxation, SMSF and advisory services. They are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to work fully remotely, managing a portfolio of diverse business clients and providing both compliance and advisory support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Manage a portfolio of business clients across sectors such as construction, wineries, NDIS, professional services and property.
• Provide tax advice, planning and strategic discussions to business owners.
• Review and give feedback on work completed by the offshore compliance team.
• Oversee workflow, ensure deadlines are met and prepare BAS, IAS and other compliance filings.
• Advise clients on business structures, cash flow, growth strategies and operational challenges.
• Support junior team members through mentoring and technical guidance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in Australian public practice accounting.
• CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
• Strong background in preparing financial statements and tax returns for various entity types.
• Experience in client‑facing advisory work and managing workflow.
• Willingness to develop further SMSF compliance knowledge.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Experience using cloud‑based accounting systems.
