Senior Accountant / Manager – Business Services & Tax (Public Practice)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced senior‑level professional to join a public‑practice tax team in Sydney. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of private clients, from SMEs to high‑net‑worth individuals, delivering compliance, advisory and tax planning services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across financial statement preparation, income tax returns and BAS/GST compliance.
• Provide proactive tax planning and structuring advice for trusts, companies and SMEs.
• Review work prepared by junior staff, offering technical guidance and mentoring.
• Liaise directly with clients to understand their business and identify advisory opportunities.
• Manage engagement budgets, work‑in‑progress and billing across the portfolio.
• Support partners on complex advisory matters, including restructures, succession planning and transactions.

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
• Experience in a Business Services, Tax or Public Practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax law, financial reporting and compliance obligations.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and a portfolio with minimal oversight.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
