Senior Accountant – Business Services & Tax

About the role

Kuubiik is recruiting a Senior Accountant for an established Melbourne accounting and advisory firm. This hands‑on position focuses on tax compliance, client interaction, and mentoring junior accountants, offering the chance to own meaningful compliance work and develop leadership skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Manage BAS, IAS, GST and other Australian tax‑compliance obligations.
• Oversee client jobs, deadlines and quality of work, acting as the primary contact for accounting and tax matters.
• Prepare or supervise monthly management reports as required.
• Review junior accountants’ work and provide practical training and guidance.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues on tax planning and complex client issues.

Required profile

• At least four years of experience in an Australian public‑practice accounting firm.
• Strong hands‑on experience in business services and Australian tax compliance.
• Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types.
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing competing deadlines.
• Relevant accounting qualification (CA or CPA) or substantial progress toward it.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency (no sponsorship required).

• Proficiency with Xero, MYOB or comparable accounting software.
