Senior Accountant – Business Services

About the role

FMA Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Business Services team in either Sydney CBD or Cronulla. The role blends hands‑on accounting work with client interaction and advisory responsibilities across a range of entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare management accounts, dashboard reports, budgets and three‑way forecasts.
• Review financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Complete income tax returns, BAS, IAS and FBT returns in line with ATO requirements.
• Provide end‑of‑year tax planning, reconciliations and support tax calculations and disclosures.
• Explain financial and tax outcomes to clients in plain English and identify risks, issues and opportunities.
• Assist with transactional work, due‑diligence and client modelling as required.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified, or working towards qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a public practice professional services accounting firm.
• Strong experience in business services tax compliance.
• High attention to detail with a practical, commercial mindset.
• Confident communicator who enjoys direct client contact.

Required skills

• Australian income tax compliance.
• Goods and Services Tax (GST) knowledge.
• Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) handling.
• Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS).
• Budgeting, forecasting and dashboard reporting.
