Senior Accessibility Specialist

About the role

Resmed is hiring a Senior Accessibility Specialist in Sydney to embed accessibility into its Design System, partnering with designers and engineers so that components, patterns and guidance meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that shapes the company's accessibility capability, working with design and development teams and external specialists, and exploring how accessibility fits into AI-assisted workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Define and embed accessibility standards across the Design System, ensuring components, patterns and guidance align with WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Review designs, prototypes and front-end code using manual, keyboard, screen-reader and automated accessibility testing.
• Partner with designers and engineers to spot accessibility barriers early and recommend practical, technically achievable solutions.
• Define accessible component behaviours and guidance for HTML, ARIA, focus management, keyboard interaction, colour and contrast, forms, motion and assistive technologies.
• Establish accessibility acceptance criteria, testing practices and documentation within Design System workflows.
• Support product teams adopting the Design System and help improve accessibility tools and processes.
• Embed accessibility into AI-assisted design and development, defining guardrails for AI-enabled experiences.
• Advocate for inclusive design and translate standards and technologies into practical guidance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in digital accessibility, ideally with digital product, design and engineering teams.
• Experience conducting accessibility reviews and audits across designs, prototypes and implemented digital experiences.
• Hands-on experience testing with assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
• Ability to work closely with UX/UI designers and engineers and to advocate for accessibility.
• Strong written communication and a self-directed, collaborative approach.

Required skills

• WCAG 2.2 AA and accessible HTML, CSS and ARIA.
• Automated accessibility testing tools, with awareness of the need for manual and user testing.
• Interest in AI-assisted design and development.
• Preferred: experience with Design Systems or shared component libraries, and in healthcare, regulated environments, mobile accessibility or accessibility user research.
