Security Engineer – Platform Security

About the role

NEP Australia is seeking a Security Engineer to secure and optimise the infrastructure that powers its next‑generation media and broadcast services. You will work closely with the Infrastructure & Security team and the global IT Security group to embed robust platform security across hybrid and Kubernetes environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage SIEM solutions for real‑time threat detection and incident response.
• Develop micro‑segmentation policies and enforce workload isolation in Kubernetes and hybrid cloud environments.
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines, container builds and IaC workflows using Terraform.
• Automate vulnerability and compliance scanning for infrastructure and platform components.
• Implement Kubernetes‑native security mechanisms such as RBAC, OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno and network policies.
• Manage secret management systems (e.g., 1Password) within automation workflows.
• Enhance platform observability by integrating logging, tracing, metrics and alerting tools.
• Collaborate with IT Security and the Technology Steering Committee to align with ISO 27001, SOC 2 and other compliance frameworks.
• Lead remediation efforts after security audits and penetration tests.

Required profile

• Proven experience in platform security, DevSecOps or SRE roles within containerised/Kubernetes environments.
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating SIEM solutions.
• Strong background in micro‑segmentation and workload isolation.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and present security strategies to stakeholders.
