Risk and Compliance Lead, Paidit

About the role

The Commonwealth Bank is looking for a seasoned risk and compliance leader for its early-stage startup, Paidit, based in the Sydney CBD area. The role suits someone who is customer focused, pragmatic and data driven, comfortable influencing senior stakeholders while also getting hands-on at pace. It centres on building a positive risk culture with a focus on AI and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and embed a fit-for-purpose compliance and risk framework, including obligations and risk profile, and proactively manage risks within risk appetite
• Work with x15 Risk so the venture understands its obligations and stays compliant through business development and change
• Develop technology that supports automated compliance by design, and give compliance guidance in day-to-day operations
• Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, including those found in audits and external reviews, and implement control improvements
• Manage risk and compliance tools, develop controls and support Control Assurance Programme (CAP) testing, and support issue closeout through robust control design, build and testing
• Manage all compliance obligations (licensing, statutory and Group) and the obligations matrix
• Build strong relationships with X15 Risk and Compliance, Line 2 Risk and Compliance, Financial Crimes Compliance and x15/CBA Legal

Required profile

• Deep obligations, compliance and risk management experience
• Demonstrated end-to-end risk experience in banking (and ideally payments)
• Compliance and regulatory expertise
• Experience in controls automation and working across risk and technology teams
• A hands-on approach, willing to move at pace and dive into the detail
