Residential Youth Worker

About the role

Wellways is recruiting Residential Youth Workers for its Youth Care Program, supporting young people with high and complex needs in out-of-home care. The work is trauma-informed and culturally safe, aligned with Queensland Department of Child Safety standards, and takes place in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, culturally safe care reflecting the Child Safety Practice Principles
• Help young people develop life skills, routines and pathways for healing
• Work with families, communities and external stakeholders
• Maintain clear documentation and uphold high standards of care
• Engage in reflective practice and professional development

Required profile

• A relevant qualification, or currently working towards one (SCHADS Level 3 pay rate applies until completed)
• Ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
• First Aid certificate and driver's licence
• Willingness to do sleepovers and shift work (essential)
• Police clearance not older than 12 months
• Blue Card and NDIS Workers Screening Check
• Completed Hope and Healing Framework Foundation Training (supplied by Wellways if needed)

What we offer

• SCHADS 2B pay of $46.70-$50.61 per hour plus super and salary packaging benefits
• Salary packaging up to $15,899 for pre-tax expenses such as rent and mortgage repayments
• Meal and entertainment allowance up to $2,650 per year through salary packaging
