Research & Testing Technician – Automotive Safety Lab

About the role

The Technician (Research and Testing) will support vehicle and equipment testing activities at the Centre for Automotive Safety Research. Working in the Vehicle Testing Laboratory, you will maintain laboratory equipment, prepare documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and execution of vehicle and equipment testing programmes.
• Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory instruments and test rigs.
• Prepare and update technical documentation, records and external reporting materials.
• Support day‑to‑day laboratory operations while adhering to safety protocols and quality control measures.
• Collaborate with technical staff, academic researchers and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience supporting laboratory or technical environments, including equipment operation and testing activities.
• Proven ability to maintain, calibrate and verify technical equipment and instrumentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing and maintaining documentation for operational and reporting purposes.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Salary range $82,922 – $92,203 per annum plus 17% superannuation.
