Reliability Engineer – Haul Trucks & Diggers/Drills (FIFO)

About the role

Fortescue is building a talent pool for Reliability Engineers to support its mobile maintenance fleet in the Pilbara region. The role operates on an 8‑day on, 6‑day off FIFO roster and focuses on improving the reliability and performance of haul trucks, diggers and drills.

Key responsibilities

• Drive equipment reliability and asset performance through data‑driven analysis.
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
• Analyse equipment failures, trends and defect history to minimise downtime.
• Lead and support Root Cause Analysis investigations.
• Develop maintenance strategies that optimise lifecycle costs.
• Partner with Maintenance, Operations and Planning teams to deliver reliability improvements.
• Monitor KPIs and recommend initiatives to improve equipment availability.
• Support continuous improvement across the mobile maintenance fleet.

Required profile

• A degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Reliability engineering experience in mining, heavy industry or a similar environment.
• Experience supporting haul trucks and/or diggers & drills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and implementing reliability initiatives.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
