Registered Nurse – Part‑Time Fixed‑Term (The Shire)

About the role

This part‑time, fixed‑term position offers a rewarding opportunity to support life‑saving blood donations at the The Shire Donor Centre. You will work within a predictable, people‑focused environment, helping donors through the collection process and ensuring a safe, high‑quality supply of blood products for Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and interview potential donors to assess eligibility.
• Provide clinical oversight and guide team members during blood collection.
• Perform routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests.
• Set up and operate collection machines and equipment.
• Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets.
• Manage adverse donor reactions and provide post‑donation care.
• Monitor donors after donation and assist with re‑booking.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration and a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent).
• Ability to lift 9–22.7 kg occasionally and stand, walk, bend frequently.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster, including weekends and afternoons.
• Own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
