Registered Nurse – Neurosurgery & Spinal Theatre

About the role

Join the specialised Neurosurgery and Spinal team at Macquarie University Hospital. You will support complex cranial and spinal procedures in a state‑of‑the‑art theatre environment, receiving extensive training and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre for intricate neurosurgical and spinal surgeries, managing specialised instruments and equipment.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and deliver safe, patient‑centred care throughout the peri‑operative journey.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, respond promptly to changes, and exercise independent professional judgement during procedures.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
• Recent peri‑operative theatre experience; neurosurgery/spinal experience is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to work flexible rostered shifts and on‑call arrangements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical records systems.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
