Registered Nurse - General Practice

About the role

Bendigo Doctors, part of Doctors and Co., is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its growing healthcare team. The nurse works alongside physicians and other staff to give comprehensive care to patients, including taking vital signs, discussing symptoms, documenting health history, administering medication and giving advice on managing conditions at home.

Key responsibilities

• Provide care to a diverse mix of patients through immunisations and other injections, triage, wound management, chronic disease management and ECGs.
• Explain procedures to patients and support and reassure them.
• Assist with care plans, shared health summaries and telehealth consultations.
• Assist doctors with clinical procedures and maintain clinical documentation.
• Coordinate the treatment room daily: stock control, sterilisation, general maintenance and care of instruments and equipment.
• Implement and practice infection control.
• Assist with reception and practice management duties.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration.
• Working experience in an accredited General Practice environment.
• Current police check, current Working with Children clearance and a current First Aid/CPR certificate.
• Immunisation record and driving licence or photo ID.
• Team player with a caring, collaborative approach, a sense of urgency, compassion and professionalism.
• Multi-tasking, problem-solving and time-management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of a range of illnesses and injuries.
• Experience with care plans and health assessments.
• Use of best practice programs preferred.
