Registered Nurse - Dialysis (Home Therapies)

About the role

Fresenius Medical Care is recruiting a Home Therapies Registered Nurse for its dialysis center in Midland. Dialysis nurses deliver life-sustaining treatments to patients with chronic kidney disease, work closely with a multidisciplinary team, monitor patient progress and provide compassionate support.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in planning, delivering and evaluating patient care in the hemodialysis setting
• Assess patients before, during and after dialysis to judge the effectiveness of care
• Review blood test results and report abnormalities to the Medical Director
• Educate patients on diet, fluid, medication and blood pressure management
• Monitor the water treatment system and dialysis fluids to ensure safe, quality therapy
• Maintain good communication with patients and relatives and promote a safe environment for staff, visitors and patients
• Keep equipment clean and safe, and report defects
• Keep accurate patient records in the TDMS/EuClid systems and respect privacy and confidentiality
• Report incidents, hazards and opportunities for improvement in quality improvement activities

Required profile

• Registered general nurse with AHPRA registration and a current practicing certificate
• At least 2 years of renal experience
• Demonstrated clinical competence in nephrology nursing (or working towards it)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills within a multidisciplinary team
• Organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills, and ability to educate staff and patients

Required skills

• Understanding of quality improvement processes and risk management obligations
• Knowledge of nephrology and other issues affecting nursing practice in the specialty
• Desirable: nephrology nursing theory and practice, computer literacy, commitment to quality improvement
