Registered Nurse – Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit

About the role

The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit, a Level 6 tertiary referral centre for cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. You will deliver safe, high‑quality nursing care in partnership with patients, families and the multidisciplinary health team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinically appropriate nursing care in the designated cardiothoracic surgical area.
• Apply nursing principles, procedures and legal requirements in line with NMBA standards.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with patients and families.

Required profile

• Current knowledge of nursing principles and ability to apply them in practice.
• Registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) and adherence to its standards.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety, quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.

• Salary range $80,524 – $109,175 per annum (pro‑rated) plus 12% superannuation.
