Registered Nurse - Cardiothoracic and Respiratory

About the role

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is recruiting an experienced Grade 2 Registered Nurse for its 4 East ward, a 20-bed mixed cardiothoracic and respiratory unit in Fitzroy. The ward cares for patients undergoing elective and emergency cardiac and thoracic surgery and has strong links with the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiac Investigation Unit, Oncology and Palliative Care. The position is permanent and part-time (32 hours per week); salary ranges from $86,580 to $107,510 per annum pro rata.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, monitor clinical status and escalate deterioration appropriately
• Support the management of complex respiratory conditions and post-operative cardiothoracic care
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care
• Contribute to patient and family education, discharge planning and ongoing care coordination
• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiothoracic and respiratory patients across the continuum of care

Required profile

• Bachelor of Nursing meeting the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate
• Postgraduate qualification in cardiothoracic, cardiology or an equivalent critical care area
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience; cardiothoracic experience preferred
• Current national criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one
• Ability to meet mandatory vaccination requirements, including the Victorian government COVID-19 direction
