Senior Mental Health Clinician

About the role

The Senior Mental Health Clinician works under the guidance of the Team Leader, Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist at the Continuing Care Team, a multidisciplinary team offering specialised mental health treatment and support during business hours. The clinician delivers high-quality clinical treatment, recovery and trauma-informed support to a caseload of consumers with a lived experience of mental illness and complex needs, using the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive assessment, individualised care planning, therapeutic interventions and ongoing support tailored to each consumer
• Foster strong therapeutic alliances and involve consumers, families, carers and supporters in care planning and evaluation
• Provide treatment aligned with local policies and strategic directions
• Contribute to primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development, education and liaison with other agencies

Required profile

• At least 5 years of clinical experience in mental health services after qualification
• Experience providing assessment, discipline-specific intervention and case management for people with serious mental illness and complex needs and their carers
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, mental health policy and community-based service delivery, including case management
• Valid nationally coordinated criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one
