Registered Midwife - Women and Children's Outpatients

About the role

Nepean Hospital, part of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, is seeking a Registered Midwife to join its Women and Children's Outpatients team. The position is temporary and part time, up to 25/04/2027, with 36 hours per week and pay of $41.22-$57.88 per hour. You will provide midwifery care, patient education and clinical support to women and families attending outpatient appointments, working with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based midwifery assessment, care planning, support and education in line with professional standards and clinical guidelines.
• Support antenatal and postnatal outpatient services, including maternal and newborn assessments within your scope of practice.
• Monitor maternal and newborn wellbeing and escalate care promptly when clinical concerns arise.
• Educate patients on pregnancy, birth preparation, breastfeeding, newborn care, postnatal recovery and maternal wellbeing.
• Support women with complex pregnancies or additional physical, emotional or psychosocial needs through assessment, referral and follow-up.

Required profile

• Current Division 1 registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
• Recent experience and clinical skills in midwifery, including antenatal care.
• Person-centred, family-inclusive and culturally sensitive care.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work and to communicate effectively, written and verbally.
• Commitment to professional development and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible roster, day, evening or night shifts across all days of the week.
