About the role
ABC News is seeking a dedicated Reporter to join its Regional WA team in the coastal town of Esperance. You will work from the local bureau, covering the Goldfields & Esperance region and contributing stories across all ABC News platforms, including radio, digital, social and television.
Key responsibilities
- Generate original news stories that reflect the cultural, geographic and socioeconomic diversity of regional Australia.
- Engage with local communities to discover, develop and tell meaningful stories.
- Create and deliver content for multiple platforms – radio bulletins, digital articles, social posts and TV news packages.
- Produce breaking‑news updates, interviews, Q&As and support emergency broadcasting when required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify content that can be shared across broader ABC channels.
Required profile
- Passionate journalist with strong editorial judgement and the ability to connect with diverse regional audiences.
- Proven experience in live presentation and broadcast environments.
- Solid understanding of issues affecting communities in Regional Western Australia.

- Base salary $81,000–$99,000 per year plus 15.4% ABC nominated superannuation.
