Regional ICT Lead (Staff IT Systems Engineer)

About the role

Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is looking for a Regional ICT Lead (R5660) for its Australian regional hub. The role is accountable for the design, delivery and secure operation of all ICT supporting the hub and its programs across the Asia Pacific and Middle East, and leads a small, high-calibre ICT team. It is a hands-on leadership position combining people and vendor management with deep technical credibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the ICT team, set the regional strategy, budget and standards, and manage vendors and managed service providers
• Own the regional network, including site-to-site connectivity with the US parent company and connectivity for remote and flight-test sites
• Own cloud architecture and operations on AWS and/or Azure, including cost governance, backup and disaster recovery
• Implement export-control compliance (ITAR, EAR, Australian Defence Trade Controls Act) and data segregation by nationality, program and clearance
• Own identity and access management, endpoint security, patching and vulnerability management, and align with the ASD Essential Eight and the Information Security Manual
• Deliver day-to-day IT services, support executives and customers, and support new site establishment and program bids

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and an NV1 security clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain one)
• 10+ years in enterprise ICT, 3+ years leading technical teams
• Demonstrated ownership of enterprise networking and hands-on cloud engineering on AWS and/or Azure
• Experience in a multinational structure, ideally as the in-country lead reconciling global standards with local obligations
• Experience in classified, need-to-know or access-restricted environments, and preferably in defence programs
• Willingness to travel, join an on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance
