Recognized Karenni Interpreter

About the role

Mercy Health is seeking a recognized Karenni interpreter to work on site at Werribee Mercy Hospital. The primary purpose of the role is to provide quality interpreting services for patient care, working alongside the Multicultural Services Team to support culturally appropriate care. The position is casual, and weekend work may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services at consultations with health professionals throughout the hospital and satellite clinics as requested.
• Collaborate with the Multicultural Services Team to assist in culturally appropriate patient care.
• Maintain an accurate record of bookings, including cancellations and rescheduled appointments, and document the outcome of each service request.
• Liaise with the Interpreter Bookings Coordinator on bookings.

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred interpreting services.
• Experience interpreting in acute hospitals in Australia, including knowledge of medical terminology, is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a current Police Record Check and a Working with Children Check, and proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
