About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity supporting people to stay in their homes, is looking for a kind and compassionate Croatian-speaking volunteer to spend time with an elderly woman still living and being cared for in her own home. The role is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which promotes links between older people and volunteers in their local community.
Key responsibilities
- Visit the client regularly, spending about one hour each time, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday.
- Chat in Croatian and watch a favourite TV show together.
- Read aloud or share stories, and listen to music in a relaxed way.
- Offer friendship, reassurance and companionship; no special skills are needed.
Required profile
- Croatian speaker.
- 18 years or older.
- A national volunteer police check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
- Willingness to commit to six months or more of visits.
