Purchasing Officer – Supply Chain & Procurement

About the role

As a Purchasing Officer at Malcolm Thompson Pumps, you will ensure that the right products reach the right people at the right time, supporting mining, industrial and commercial operations across Australia. This role combines supplier relationship management, logistics coordination and end‑to‑end purchase order handling.

Key responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders with local and international suppliers from placement through delivery.
• Evaluate suppliers on price, lead time, quality and availability to secure optimal outcomes.
• Coordinate international shipments, handling export/import documentation and freight forwarder communication.
• Monitor open orders, resolve delivery issues early and keep stakeholders updated on ETAs.
• Process daily expediting reports and follow up on overdue orders.
• Enter and confirm customer purchase orders accurately in the ERP system.
• Assist in resolving supplier and creditor issues as they arise.
• Support and mentor less‑experienced team members.

Required profile

• Experience in purchasing, procurement or supply‑chain administration.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable data‑entry accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills with suppliers, freight partners and internal teams.
• Ability to prioritise workload and stay composed in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team‑first attitude with self‑motivation to manage own tasks.

Required skills

• Familiarity with ERP systems (experience with LN is a bonus).
