Psychiatrist (Older Persons Mental Health)

About the role

Darling Downs Health in Toowoomba is recruiting a Psychiatrist (Older Persons Mental Health) to deliver specialist mental health care for older people in both inpatient and community settings. The role combines clinical work with leadership, teaching and service improvement, and aims to support better outcomes for patients, families and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist assessment, treatment and care that supports recovery, safety and positive patient outcomes.
• Lead collaborative decisions with multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers and health partners to provide coordinated care.
• Support service excellence through clinical governance, quality improvement and evidence-informed practice.
• Mentor and develop future clinicians through supervision, teaching and involvement in research and education.

Required profile

• Fellowship of RANZCP (or equivalent).
• Specialist registration, or eligibility for registration, in Australia.
• Experience delivering high-quality older persons mental health care.
• Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
• A plus: experience in service improvement, research, teaching or specialist aged psychiatry practice.

What we offer

• Remuneration package valued from $394,763 (L18) to $487,246 (L27), with hourly rates from $107.95 (L18) to $136.23 (L27), plus a motor vehicle allowance.
