Project Manager / Senior Project Manager

About the role

Southern Star Research is seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead phase I and II clinical studies across multiple therapeutic areas. The role offers flexibility to work onsite, hybrid or fully remote from anywhere in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively manage trial timelines, budgets, resources and vendor relationships.
• Act as the central point of contact for client trial enquiries and ensure compliance with SOPs and ICH/GCP guidelines.
• Lead sponsor study start‑up activities, including kick‑off meetings, site selection and budget negotiations.
• Develop and maintain project plans, risk mitigation strategies and quality standards.
• Mentor and train project team members and oversee delivery of contracted services.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of clinical research experience in pharma, CRO or similar environment.
• At least 2 years as an independent Project Manager managing phase I studies.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic indications and clinical trial conduct.
• Ability to work independently and manage cross‑functional teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in medical, pharmaceutical or healthcare disciplines (MSc or PhD highly desirable).
