Project Engineer - Civil Works

About the role

A respected civil contractor in Brisbane is recruiting a site-based Project Engineer. The role is hands-on on projects across Queensland and New South Wales, with rosters typically 5/2 or 10/4 depending on the project. The pay is $145,000 to $170,000 plus flights, accommodation and a company vehicle.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the work as part of the project team, working alongside supervisors, engineers and project managers so that plans happen on site.
• Cover planning, cost, programme, quality and subcontractors: reviewing drawings and methodology, dealing with variations, tracking costs and solving issues that hold the job up.
• Take ownership, make calls and keep the project moving.

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree.
• At least 3 years of experience on project sites, not just in the office.
• Ability to read drawings and understand how they translate on site.
• Comfortable dealing with supervisors, subcontractors and different personalities.
• Solid understanding of cost, programme and how projects run.
• Willingness to be site-based and move with the work across QLD and NSW.
• Nice to have: exposure to TMR and RMS projects, experience with cost tracking, variations and project reporting, and experience in fast-moving live project environments.

Required skills

• Nice to have: planning tools such as MS Project or P6.
• Nice to have: commercial awareness of delivery, cost and time.

The recruiter will consider other similar roles for Queensland and NSW clients if this one does not fit, and will get back to applicants even if it is not a match.
