Project Engineer - BMS

About the role

A Melbourne-based, permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced BMS Project Engineer to join the Melbourne Service Team. The role leads the delivery of Building Management System (BMS/BMCS) solutions across a diverse portfolio of commercial projects and service upgrades, covering design, programming, testing, commissioning and optimisation of building automation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project design documentation, including point schedules, control schematics, equipment schedules and technical drawings
• Design, develop and implement control strategies and software programming for Johnson Controls and third-party systems
• Perform software testing, commissioning and system validation
• Design and develop graphical interfaces for new and existing BMS installations
• Diagnose and resolve complex software, controls and integration issues
• Work with Project Managers to ensure project delivery, customer satisfaction and commercial outcomes
• Maintain customer relationships through technical support and support sales and tender activities
• Mentor and support junior engineers, technicians and apprentices

Required profile

• 5+ years' experience in BMS/BMCS, controls engineering or building automation
• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Proven experience programming, commissioning and troubleshooting BMS platforms
• Experience delivering commercial building projects across installation, retrofit, upgrade and service environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Required skills

• HVAC controls, building automation systems and networking, IT infrastructure and server environments
• Open protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and MQTT
• Microsoft Office, including Excel, Project and PowerPoint
• Commercial HVAC environments, smart building technologies, analytics, IoT and digital building solutions
