Program Advisor - National Health Transformation Program
Hudson · Brisbane
Job description
About the role
A national health organisation, represented by its client, is seeking a Program Advisor for an initial contract until 30 June 2027. The role sits within a large transformation program and brings planning and scheduling discipline to a complex, multi-stream national program working across a federated structure. It works closely with the project manager of each delivery stream to build a single, agreed schedule. The position is based in Brisbane City fringe with flexibility to work from home two days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an integrated program schedule covering deliverables, milestones, dependencies and resourcing assumptions.
- Work with each stream's project manager to build, baseline and regularly update their stream schedule so it is realistic and aligned to the program plan.
- Monitor the program critical path and provide resolution options if slippage in one stream affects others or key milestones.
- Assess delivery path risks and schedule issues, work with stream managers on mitigations and reflect them in the risk register.
- Resolve differences between planned delivery dates across streams, escalate to the Program Manager and Program Director where a decision is needed.
- Maintain the program plan, keeping scope, sequencing, key decisions and planning assumptions current.
- Run a regular schedule review cycle and manage baseline changes through an agreed change control process.
- Provide schedule reporting and visuals (milestones, critical path, schedule health) to the Program Manager and Program Director, and inputs to governance and funder reporting.
- Document the scheduling tools, templates and conventions so the program can maintain the schedule after the contract ends.
Required profile
- At least 5 years' experience in program or project planning and scheduling in a complex, multi-stream environment.
- Experience in resource and capacity planning and in identifying workforce constraints.
- Experience across hybrid delivery approaches, including Agile and more traditional streams.
- Desirable: healthcare or health sector experience, and experience in large-scale national programs funded by government, with multiple delivery partners.
Required skills
- Demonstrated expertise in integrated schedules, critical path analysis, dependency management, baselining and change control.
- Advanced skills in a scheduling tool (e.g. Asana) and strong MS Office skills.
- Ability to turn schedule information into clear reporting and visuals for senior audiences.
- Stakeholder influence without authority, strong facilitation and negotiation skills.
The pay rate is competitive and inclusive of the mandatory 25% casual loading for Australian-based contract and temporary roles. Applications are submitted confidentially by sending a resume in Word format quoting reference No. 250704.
