Production / Site Manager - Manufacturing

About the role

A rural manufacturing facility about two hours east of Perth is looking for a progressive Production Manager with a mechanical or fitting background to run the whole site autonomously. The role reports to heads of business on the East Coast, with high-level support available. It suits someone who leads from the front, gets involved in day-to-day operations and takes ownership of safe and efficient output. Applicants are expected to live in the area during the week; accommodation is provided by the client (including for family if required).

Key responsibilities

• Oversight and ownership of production throughput
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Build relationships with local suppliers and liaise with external contractors (maintenance, transport, etc.)
• Staffing and rostering, organisation of workflow and quality control
• Inventory management and production planning
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and influence decisions on facility upgrades and processes
• Keep the team happy and productive

Required profile

• Mechanical or fitting experience (qualifications preferred)
• Previous leadership experience in production environments
• Understanding of machine maintenance and preventative schedules
• Ability to identify production bottlenecks and work with skilled and unskilled workers
• Organised, process-driven and a natural relationship builder with local suppliers
• Willingness to live in a rural location Monday to Friday

Required skills

• Inventory control and logistics understanding
• Strong organisational skills and safety-first mentality
• Ability to use software for administrative and system functions
