Production Coordinator – Cairns

About the role

The Production Coordinator will ensure supervisors and contractors have a clear plan, time frames and quality standards to deliver shipbuilding work on schedule, cost and quality targets. This role works closely with supervisors to achieve safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery of project scopes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily and weekly task requirements for allocated projects.
• Identify risks or constraints, consult stakeholders and manage escalations.
• Assist in compiling and submitting OQE documentation as required.
• Monitor procedure execution and provide feedback to the QA department.
• Coordinate subcontractors: request quotations, raise purchase orders and ensure work follows specifications.
• Conduct employee performance reviews and counselling.
• Promote continual improvement initiatives and implement HSEQ standards.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification.
• Project management or supervisory experience.
• Strong interpersonal, people‑management and communication abilities.
• Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and Defence Common Access Card (DCAC).
• Marine/ship repair or defence project experience (desirable).
• Ability to manage time, resources and schedules effectively.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
• Experience with commercial CMMS packages.
