Production Assistant - Soft Fruit Farm

About the role

United Exports is looking for a dedicated, hands-on Production Assistant to support the daily operations of its farm near Yanchep. The role works closely with the Production and Estate Managers to run production plans, supervise farm workers and keep productivity and quality standards high. It suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced, outdoor agricultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily farm activities for pickers and general workers, assign tasks and check output against productivity targets
• Train workers on harvesting, pruning, planting and maintenance, and monitor quality and productivity
• Take part in blueberry harvesting and quality selection, pruning, planting and trellising, irrigation setup and monitoring, and fertiliser and crop protection application (as trained)
• Carry out regular field inspections for plant health and irrigation issues
• Help plan daily and weekly operations, monitor yields, harvest volumes and labour performance, and keep production records and timesheets
• Support coordination between field and packing operations
• Maintain tools and equipment, monitor inventory of fertilisers, trays and irrigation materials, and report breakdowns
• Uphold food safety, hygiene and compliance standards, ensure PPE is used correctly, and report risks

Required profile

• Certificate VI, Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field
• At least 2 years' experience in farm production, preferably soft fruit or low-chill varieties
• Exposure to the full crop production cycle, from land preparation through to harvesting and maintenance
• Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office

Required skills

• Knowledge of crop production, irrigation and pest control
• Ability to monitor farm conditions and troubleshoot issues
• Strong organisation, problem-solving and team supervision skills
• Adaptability to weather and seasonal demands, ability to work under pressure
