Production Assistant (Nursery)

About the role

United Exports is looking for a hands-on, driven Production Assistant (Nursery) to support daily farm and nursery operations in Yanchep. The role works closely with the Production Manager and Estate Manager to execute production plans, supervise farmworkers and ensure optimal crop output and quality. It suits someone passionate about agriculture who enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced farming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Field supervision: coordinate daily farmworker activities, monitor productivity and quality standards, train and guide workers, and assist with onboarding seasonal workers.
• Hands-on farm work: blueberry harvesting and quality selection, planting, pruning and trellising, irrigation setup and monitoring, fertiliser and crop protection applications, and field checks for plant health, pests and irrigation issues.
• Nursery supervision: oversee propagation, watering, fertilising and pest control; monitor plant quality; supervise nursery staff and seasonal workers; maintain stock records, plant labelling and inventory; support packing plants for export markets.
• Operational support: help with daily and weekly planning, track harvest volumes, yields and worker performance, maintain production records and timesheets, and support logistics between field and packing.
• Resource management: ensure correct use and maintenance of tools and equipment, monitor supplies such as fertilisers, irrigation components and picking trays, and promote efficient use of water and resources.
• Health, safety and compliance: maintain food safety and hygiene standards, ensure proper PPE use, and comply with agricultural regulations.

Required profile

• Certificate VI, Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field.
• At least 2 years' relevant farm production experience.
• Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Exposure to soft fruit / low chill varieties is advantageous.
• Experience across farming activities from land preparation to harvesting.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of crop production, harvesting techniques and farm operations.
• Basic knowledge of irrigation, pest control and soil management.
• Problem-solving and organisational ability, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to supervise small teams, communicate well and adapt to changing weather and peak production periods.
