Production Assistant

About the role

Ensemble Theatre is seeking a dynamic Production Assistant to join its passionate team and support the delivery of its annual performance season, tours, and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Support Production Managers in delivering 10–11 productions, tours, and events.
• Assist with prop sourcing, making, material procurement, costing and budgeting.
• Maintain workshop, rehearsal spaces, theatre and storage facilities, including annual stocktakes.
• Attend production meetings, technical and dress rehearsals, and previews.
• Archive production documentation and maintain props, sets and costumes throughout the season.

Required profile

• Prior experience in a production role within a professional performing arts company.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work extended or irregular hours.
• Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices.
• Effective communication skills and a solutions‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Practical experience in props sourcing and making.
• Basic sewing skills and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant production software.
• Working knowledge of theatre sound, lighting and projection systems, including QLab and ETC lighting consoles.

What we offer

• Full‑time position (38 hours per week) with a pro‑rata salary of $70,000 plus 12 % superannuation.
• Overtime compensated with Time in Lieu as per the Live Performance Award 2010.
• Complimentary tickets to Ensemble Theatre productions (subject to availability).
