Product Lead, Lumen Tooling
cba · Sydney CBD Area
Job description
About the role
Lumen is CommBank's design system, providing the foundations, components and standards that help teams build consistent, accessible and high-quality experiences. The Product Lead will shape the next evolution of Lumen, making its foundations useful not only to people but also to machines. You will lead the product strategy for the tools, workflows and machine-readable foundations that help designers and engineers move from idea to production faster.
Key responsibilities
- Set the product vision and strategy for Lumen Tooling and explore how digital experiences are designed and built when people and AI work together.
- Identify where designers and engineers lose time, context or quality, and simplify how UI is created.
- Shape how design tokens, components, patterns and guidance evolve so they can be reliably understood and used by AI.
- Create design-to-code workflows that reduce the gap between design intent and production while keeping quality, accessibility and consistency.
- Enable rapid prototyping with the same foundations that power production.
- Explore where AI, agents and reusable skills can improve everyday work, from generating UI to validating quality.
- Prototype tools and workflows, then turn the strongest ideas into products with reliability, trust and integration.
- Establish measures of speed, adoption, quality, satisfaction and impact, and align Design, Engineering and Product around a shared view of the future.
Required profile
- Track record leading digital products, platforms or developer/design tooling from discovery through delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.
- Ability to create an ambitious product vision and turn it into a focused strategy, roadmap and sequence of experiments.
- Curiosity about AI and emerging developer and design tooling, with a developing point of view.
- Strong discovery and experimentation skills, with a bias toward getting useful things in people's hands.
- Technical fluency to work deeply with designers and engineers and understand the trade-offs of building tools they can trust.
- Appreciation that quality, accessibility, consistency and maintainability matter as much as speed.
- Ability to build relationships, influence across organisational boundaries and bring people together around an emerging direction.
- Experience building design systems, developer platforms, internal tooling, AI products or products for technical users is valuable; candidates may come from Product, Design or Engineering.
