Procurement Officer

About the role

Saab Australia is hiring a Procurement Officer who reports to the Procurement Manager. The role provides proactive, timely procurement support across Saab's projects, business lines and corporate functions, working with project teams, suppliers and key stakeholders. It covers strategic sourcing, commercial procurement and supplier management, helping ensure value for money, risk minimisation and successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support end-to-end procurement activities across complex projects and programs
• Develop and implement procurement plans and sourcing strategies
• Carry out market analysis, tender evaluations and supplier selection
• Negotiate and administer supplier agreements, contracts and purchase orders
• Advise project teams and stakeholders on procurement matters
• Manage supplier relationships and support supplier performance
• Contribute to procurement governance, compliance and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Experience supporting procurement in Defence, engineering, construction or complex project environments
• Understanding of Australian contract law and commercial contracting principles
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing commercial relationships
• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Procurement or a related discipline
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (baseline/NV1/NV2)

Required skills

• Preparing and administering purchase orders, subcontracts and supplier agreements
• Contemporary procurement methodologies, supply chain practices and risk management
• International procurement and INCOTERMS
• ASDEFCON and Australian Defence procurement frameworks
• Export control requirements (Australia, US, UK, Sweden) and ITAR eligibility
• Enterprise systems such as IFS Cloud and SharePoint
• Accounting principles and financial analysis
