Procurement Coordinator

About the role

The Procurement Coordinator leads the coordination and continuous improvement of East Gippsland Shire Council's procurement and contract management systems. You will develop cost‑effective procurement strategies, support staff with training and advice, and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and continuously improve procurement and contract management systems, maintaining accurate documentation and website content.
• Develop cost‑effective procurement strategies, minimise purchasing risks and ensure statutory compliance.
• Provide training, advice and support to staff on procurement and contract administration.
• Oversee tendering processes, maintenance service contracts, contractor performance reviews and payment administration, ensuring probity and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in procurement, with strong understanding of tendering and contract administration, preferably in local government.
• Excellent collaboration, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Clear communicator who can handle sensitive issues with trust.
• Strong team‑management skills to develop and support staff.
• Willingness to undergo police check, psychometric testing and legal right to work in Australia.
