Process Control Engineer – Mining Operations

About the role

MMG is seeking a Process Control Engineer to maintain and optimise the SCADA/PLC system at the Dugald River underground zinc mine. The role supports operations by ensuring high‑quality process control functionality and contributes to improved value recovery from the concentrator.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible safety leadership on site.
• Manage PCS system performance, coordinating with maintenance and IT to ensure hardware availability.
• Monitor process performance and execute optimisation activities such as graphics updates, control‑loop tuning and alarm management.
• Apply change‑management procedures to preserve system architecture and interface integrity between SCADA and historian.
• Identify and implement projects that enhance value recovery through process‑control improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of site‑based control‑system experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Aveva System Platform (SCADA) and Schneider M‑series PLCs (e.g., 580, 340).
• Proficiency in Control Expert programming language.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse plant control performance, tune loops and manage alarms.
• Experience using Aveva PI Systems (PI Vision) and delivering projects that boost process efficiency.
