Principal Tax Manager – Global Mining Company

About the role

OceanaGold is seeking a Principal – Tax to lead and oversee all corporate tax matters across its global mining operations. Reporting to the Vice President – Tax, this senior professional will provide technical expertise, ensure compliance, and support strategic tax planning in a dynamic, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of Canadian and international corporate tax returns and related filings.
• Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions for current and deferred income tax under IFRS.
• Coordinate transfer‑pricing analyses, calculations, and documentation.
• Support tax planning initiatives, including financing structures and cross‑border transactions.
• Lead cross‑border tax projects such as surplus calculations, withholding tax, and treaty applications.
• Monitor legislative changes in Canada and abroad, assess impact, and advise the business.
• Respond to tax authority inquiries and oversee audit or dispute resolution.
• Partner with internal finance teams to integrate tax considerations into business decisions.
• Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to ensure timely, accurate tax compliance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Canadian and international corporate tax compliance and advisory.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and transfer‑pricing regulations.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional tax projects.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to work with finance teams, external advisors, and tax authorities.
