Principal Software Engineer

About the role

BJAK builds technology products used by millions across Southeast Asia. As a Principal Software Engineer you will own technical direction and execution for major products and systems, working hands‑on from design through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, reliable backend, frontend, API and infrastructure solutions.
• Write production code, prototype, conduct code reviews and resolve production issues.
• Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, cost and maintainability.
• Translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical solutions and execution plans.
• Mentor engineers and lead technically critical initiatives across teams.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high‑scale systems.
• Proven track record of leading major engineering projects from design to production.
• Ability to make sound technical trade‑offs and solve complex production problems.
