Principal Software Engineer - Institutional Lending, Pricing and ESG

About the role

The Lending, Pricing & ESG Crew delivers technology covering the end-to-end lifecycle of institutional lending, including loan origination, pricing, servicing, amendments, settlements and portfolio management, integrated with enterprise customer, finance, risk and regulatory systems. As Principal Software Engineer, you report to the Crew Tech Lead and lead the technical direction of strategic lending, pricing and ESG platforms, including LoanIQ and DPX, with cloud-native engineering and AI-assisted development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction for strategic Lending, Pricing and ESG platforms and provide architectural leadership across core lending platforms and their integration ecosystem.
• Design scalable, secure and resilient services across APIs, backend platforms and enterprise integrations.
• Work closely with the Institutional Banking business so technology supports customer outcomes.
• Champion engineering excellence: AI-enabled SDLC, DevSecOps, observability, quality engineering and automation.
• Lead modernisation initiatives that simplify legacy technology and improve operational resilience.
• Build strong working relationships with suppliers of core platforms and mentor senior engineers.

Required profile

• Software engineering with technical leadership and coaching across multiple teams and strategic platforms.
• Experience delivering technology for lending, capital markets or financial services platforms.
• Experience modernising and integrating enterprise vendor platforms, including COTS and SaaS solutions.
• Experience with LoanIQ or comparable enterprise lending platforms is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration, operational resilience and regulated environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and passion for mentoring engineers and adopting AI-enabled engineering practices.
