About the role

The Interim Executive Director of Schools, Diocese of Wollongong, is inviting applications for the Principal position at St Michael's Catholic Parish Primary School in Thirroul, NSW, commencing at the start of the 2027 school year. The school is a K-6 Catholic school in the Northern Illawarra, guided by the motto 'Lift Up Your Hearts' and a mission to inspire excellence in learning and living, with religious education, prayer and social justice woven into daily life.

Key responsibilities

• Model Catholic faith in action and show a deep understanding and commitment to the school's mission within the wider evangelising mission of the Church.
• Lead, design and manage the quality of educational experiences for all students, building a culture of effective teaching and learning.
• Build staff capacity through professional learning, regular feedback and performance management.
• Manage innovation and change so the school's vision and strategic plan are aligned, actioned and realised.
• Ensure governance responsibilities are understood and that school processes meet system, NESA and legislative requirements.
• Build a collaborative, trusting relationship with stakeholders based on the school's uniqueness, church and local community.

Required profile

• Current accreditation to teach with NESA.
• Post-graduate study in a relevant discipline.
• Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School (Category E).
• Working with Children clearance, as the role is child-related.
