Principal OCS/ICT Engineer

About the role

KBR's Infrastructure Solutions business is seeking a Principal ICT / Operational Communications Systems (OCS) Engineer to join its Electrical Infrastructure team in Melbourne. The role provides technical direction and strategic oversight of ICT and OCS on major rail, defence and transportation projects, advising clients, governing technical delivery and mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical governance for ICT and OCS across rail, metro, road, airport and transport projects
• Review and approve engineering designs, technical specifications, interface requirements and deliverables
• Act as discipline lead for CCTV, PA/VA, passenger information systems, operational networks, help points, radio systems, fibre infrastructure, wireless communications and emerging digital technologies
• Establish project technical strategies, system architectures and delivery approaches
• Manage interfaces with signalling, rolling stock, stations, power, control systems and operational technologies
• Oversight of systems engineering, requirements management, verification and validation, testing, commissioning and operational readiness
• Manage client relationships and lead technical reviews, design assurance, risk assessments and governance reviews
• Mentor engineers, support resource planning and quality management, and contribute to bids and business development

Required profile

• Established ICT and OCS leader with a track record on complex transportation infrastructure projects
• Experience as technical lead, discipline lead or engineering manager on transport projects
• Degree in Electrical, Communications, Telecommunications, ICT, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for Australian Defence security clearance
• Desirable: CPEng or equivalent, extensive rail/metro/airport project experience, and experience in a consulting or design consultancy environment

Required skills

• Systems engineering, requirements management, assurance, verification and validation, testing and commissioning
• Proficiency with engineering documentation, design management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong client engagement, stakeholder management and negotiation skills
