Principal Environmental Scientist – Contaminated Land - Relocate to Darwin

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced contaminated land professional to lead investigations, assessments and remediation projects in the Northern Territory. This senior position combines hands‑on technical work with project leadership and client engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver contaminated land investigations, assessments and remediation projects from scoping to completion.
• Provide senior technical advice on complex contaminated land and environmental management matters.
• Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, tender submissions and client correspondence.
• Develop investigation strategies, conceptual site models, sampling programmes and remediation approaches.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors and quality‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Approximately 10+ years of experience in contaminated land consulting, environmental science, engineering or hydrogeology.
• Strong knowledge of contaminated land legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Proven ability to plan and deliver field investigations and produce high‑quality technical documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence engaging clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
