Principal Electrical Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead technical electrical design on high‑profile building services projects across sectors such as aviation, defence, healthcare, data centres, education, commercial and transport.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and coordination of electrical design documentation, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and compliance with Australian Standards and NCC.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical advice, and support multidisciplinary project delivery from planning through construction.
• Conduct site inspections, design reviews and construction‑phase services while advancing leadership capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years experience in building services design within a consulting or contractor environment.
• Demonstrated experience with complex projects in sectors such as aviation, healthcare, defence, data centres or transport.
• Relevant registration or qualification (RPEQ, RPEV, CPEng) or working towards it.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain defence clearance.

Required skills

• Electrical building services design including lighting, power, earthing/lightning protection, distribution and reticulation.
• Proficiency with ETAP, PowerCAD, Revit, AGi32 and Microsoft Office Suite.
