Principal Bulk Materials Handling Engineer

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Principal Bulk Materials Handling Engineer to lead the design and development of bulk solids handling systems, with a focus on crushing technology and equipment. The role is based in Perth, WA and operates under a part‑time telework arrangement, requiring regular on‑site collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, modify and evaluate bulk solids handling components and processes in line with Bechtel standards and engineering procedures.
• Lead independent scope of work and technical specifications for large‑scale mechanical design projects.
• Conduct field investigations, client interviews and site visits to define project requirements and generate cost estimates.
• Prepare conceptual designs, estimates, staffing plans and schedules for proposals and project execution.
• Communicate complex technical issues to senior management and recommend effective solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical design of bulk materials handling systems, especially crushing equipment.
• Strong ability to conduct field investigations and translate client needs into technical scope.
• Experience preparing cost estimates, work plans and proposal documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical solutions to upper management.
