Primary Engineer – High Voltage Substations

About the role

CPP is seeking a Primary Engineer to join its high‑voltage infrastructure team in West Leederville, WA. You will contribute to the design and delivery of large‑scale substation projects that enable Australia’s renewable energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed primary electrical designs from concept through construction support for HV substations, transmission lines, wind farms and battery storage systems.
• Perform system studies including load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash and low‑voltage protection coordination.
• Design earthing systems, EMF/LFI mitigation, insulation coordination and high‑voltage cable sizing.
• Size conductors, busbars, calculate short‑circuit forces and specify lightning protection.
• Produce lighting studies, substation equipment layout drawings and high‑voltage equipment specifications.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering primary electrical engineering studies for high‑voltage projects.
• Ability to produce, not just review, detailed engineering documentation.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment and construction processes.
