Policy Officer – Public Guardian & Trustee

About the role

The Policy Officer will work within the Public Guardian and Trustee unit of the Attorney General's Department in Darwin. This position provides high‑level analysis, strategic advice and support for the development and implementation of policies and legislation. The role contributes to effective service delivery while promoting integrity and accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct critical analysis of policy issues and legislative proposals.
• Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on policy development.
• Support the drafting, review and implementation of policies and legislation across the Public Guardian and Trustee.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure policy outcomes align with service delivery objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented policies and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Experience at Administrative Officer Level 7 or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Understanding of public sector policy processes and legislative frameworks.
