Personal Care Assistant

About the role

Mercy Health is hiring a Personal Care Assistant for its Mercy Place facility in Lathlain, Western Australia. This is a casual position for someone who can assist residents with their day-to-day care needs. Candidates must be in Australia and hold valid work rights.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
• Help with mobility, including transfers from bed to chair, walking assistance and safe use of mobility aids.
• Support residents with feeding, nutrition and hydration, and special dietary needs.
• Remind residents about their medications and support them in taking prescribed medicines under a nurse's guidance.
• Help maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping such as making beds and cleaning rooms.
• Help organise and run activities that support physical, emotional and cognitive well-being.
• Respond to residents' requests promptly and professionally, follow care plans set by registered nurses and healthcare professionals, and protect residents' privacy and dignity.
• Follow safety protocols, including infection control and use of personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and committed to person-centred care.
• Current Police Record Check, or in the process of obtaining one.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination.
• Ability to build friendly, respectful relationships and work collaboratively in a team.
