Personal Care Assistant (Casual)

About the role

Mercy Health is seeking expressions of interest from Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to join its residential aged care home in Albury. This is a casual position at 578 Poole St, Albury NSW, and applicants upload a resume, cover letter and relevant qualifications through the online application.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Help with mobility, such as transferring from bed to chair, assisting with walking and using mobility aids safely
• Support feeding, nutrition and hydration, and assist with special dietary needs
• Remind residents about medication and support them in taking prescribed medicines under a nurse's guidance
• Provide companionship and emotional support, and help maintain a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping such as making beds and cleaning rooms
• Help organise and run activities that promote physical, emotional and cognitive well-being
• Follow care plans set by registered nurses and healthcare professionals, and uphold residents' privacy, dignity and preferences
• Adhere to safety protocols, including infection control and use of PPE

Required profile

• Minimum Cert III / Cert IV in Aged Care or Individual Support
• Resilient, compassionate and committed to person-centred care
• Compassionate, flexible and positive approach
• Ability to build friendly, respectful relationships and work collaboratively in a team
• Nursing clearance (NDIS) or proof of application, police check, and valid Australian work rights
